Calming the Seas

In today's distribution world, overseas vendors are becoming the standard; but while solving the problem of high supplier costs, many other dilemmas have crept in. Some of the most notable of these dilemmas are:

1. Accurately Forecasting demand for products with long replenishment times. RockySoft clients that import from overseas experience an average 3-6 month lead time from vendors.
2. Container Management- optimizing purchase to minimize transportation costs.
3. Tracking shipments during the 3-6 week journey.

RockySoft recognized that there was a need for tools which help distributors plan, optimize and track overseas purchases. In this three part Product Highlight Series, we will provide an overview of the software modules which make up the complete importer solution:

• Logistics Collaboration Portal
• Demand Manager
• Requirements Planner

Together these solutions will help monitor shipments, optimize containers, and accurately forecast replenishment needs for extended lead time items.

The first module will highlight the "Logistics Collaboration Portal" which tracks overseas purchases.

Logistics Collaboration Portal (LCP)
RockySoft's LCP tracks the status of Product in Transit- the most critical information that is required to maintain high Customer Service Levels. This module is specifically designed to aid companies that rely on product from overseas vendors or need to keep a tight handle on product in transit. LCP will help you know where your outstanding purchase orders are at any point in time. LCP tracks or calculates relevant information like: where the product is, who has the product (Freight Forward, Shipper, Customs, etc.) and the Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA).

Enabling Features

• Calculates where products are in the supply chain, including who has ownership ( Freight Forwarder, Shipper, Customer, etc.) and the Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA)
• In-transit (AKA "On Water") reports
• Single-Click Locator tool for Items, containers, vessels, purchase order (PO) numbers, and more, to give lightning fast "when can I have it" dates
• Ability to print customized Receiving tickets for receiving containers and PO's into inventory
• All data fields are user configurable(keep the ones you want, add your own, and remove unneeded fields)
• Set permissions to allow external parties' access to the LCP to view or update transit information as required
• Aids in keeping track of products during long transit times
• Allows attachment of shipping and other related documents to provide a single location for all data about a shipment
