Despite Tough Economic Times Manhattan Toy Finds Success!
In
2007, Manhattan Toy Company, a privately held toy manufacturer located
in Minneapolis, MN, made the decision to implement RockySoft's 'Pack
Light Inventory Management Suite' in order to help the company deal
with problems they were facing relating to highly seasonal demand, long
lead times, short product life cycles and ever changing product
mixes. To complicate things more, they were using an add-on
forecasting solution that would not integrate with their host
Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP system) Microsoft Dynamics
GP. This resulted in extremely time consuming manual
processes for managing their inventory.
After
diligent research, RockySoft's 'Pack Light Inventory Management Suite'
was chosen to replace the current add-on inventory management
solution. Demand Manager, Requirements Planner, Economic Order
Manager, and Exception Signals were installed during the fourth quarter
of 2007 and since implementation Manhattan Toy has experienced improved
customer service levels, reduced time spent on manual entry activities
and freed up cash due to a reduction of inventory.
Marc Kettleson, Demand Planning and Forecast Manager for Manhattan Toy,
recounts the results: "Although we experienced a tough November and
December, we had one outstanding bright spot in 2008 - reduced
inventory and superb inventory management. Thanks in part due to Rocky
Soft, Manhattan Toy was able to reduce ending inventory almost 20% in
2008 in a tough economic environment. Not only did we reduce our
inventory levels, we also increased our in-stocks 7% points in 2008 to
unprecedented levels (mid-90's). Thank you [RockySoft] for your
innovation and integrated ERP solutions - we made the right decision
with choosing your software."

Version 9.3 - New Features
Forecast Profiling
9.3 introduces the ability to provide a scale, or 'profile' of forecast
throughout the period it is forecasted for. Perhaps your sales are
biased towards the beginning of the month, or maybe they all happen on
Thursday and Friday. Now, you can give RockySoft a breakdown of how
your forecasts distribute themselves, and the forecast will be laid out
in that pattern, rather than simply in a 'flattened' arrangement. Even
better, we can calculate these for you, and shortly, month-by-month and
week-by-week profiles will be in place for greatest accuracy in demand
and replenishment planning.
Item-Level RockySoft safety stock rules
An updated Safety Stock Settings screen now allows for setting the
rules for RockySoft safety stocks on an item-by-item basis. This means
you can now explicitly choose between Standard, LRP, and Bootstrapping
safety stock methods, as well as tailoring parameters to each item as
need be. The Inventory Exchange Curve window has been updated to
reflect the new capabilities, with a comparative display of the three
methods, as well as the chosen safety stock values, and the values
provided from your ERP system.

Microsoft Convergence 2009 - New Orleans, Louisiana
This
past month RockySoft once again exhibited at Microsoft
Convergence. Convergence is the premier Microsoft Dynamics event,
bringing customers, partners, team members and industry experts
together in an environment created to discuss solutions, address
business needs and establish a true community that can be leveraged
throughout the year. While much work and many trade show
hours were completed throughout trip we did manage to find a
little time to squeeze in some sightseeing and fun during the
week! Some of these attractions included a visit to the New
Orleans aquarium, the French Quarter, a plantation tour, beignets (french doughnuts) at
Cafe DuMonde and of course...a walk down Bourbon Street! We also
celebrated Larry's 60th birthday while in New Orleans! Overall,
we feel that Convergence 2009 was a success and look forward to
attending again next year!
